What victories are you not celebrating?

"You are your best thing" Toni Morrison quote

As we move through the first weeks of January, I'm noticing a familiar pattern: we're all already focused on what's next. New goals. What we need to fix. Where we're falling short.

But what about what you've already done?

One of the most powerful practices I've learned is the art of celebrating victories. Not just the big, loud wins. But the quiet ones. The ones no one else sees.

The boundary you set, even though it felt uncomfortable. The conversation you had when you wanted to avoid it. The morning you chose rest over pushing through. The day you showed up for yourself when everything in you wanted to disappear.

These are victories. And they deserve to be honored.

We live in a culture that trains us to always be reaching for more, fixing what's broken, and becoming better. But what if the most transformative thing you could do right now is simply acknowledge how far you've already come?

Three practices for this week:

Name three victories from the past month. They don't have to be impressive to anyone else. What did you do that you're proud of? What choice did you make that aligned with your values? Write them down. Witness them.

Notice the patterns of growth. Where are you showing up differently than you were six months ago? A year ago? What's changed in how you handle stress, set boundaries, or care for yourself? Growth doesn't always feel dramatic, but it's real.

Celebrate before planning. Before you set new intentions or goals, take time to honor what you've already accomplished. This isn't indulgent. It's essential. We build better futures from a foundation of acknowledging our present strength.

What would change if you actually saw yourself clearly? If you counted the small wins alongside the big ones? If you honored your own resilience as much as you honor your ambition?

You've already come so far. That deserves to be celebrated.

P.S. This practice of celebrating victories is core to how we work in Your Intentional Year. We don't just jump into planning what's next. We start by honoring what's been, witnessing your growth, and building from a place of wholeness rather than lack. If this resonates with you, there are still two spots left for January 31st.
